Keep Listening

It was good to hear one of the keynote speakers at the Heaven2Earth conference in Cardiff yesterday speak a prophetic word to the delegates. Part of it was taken from this line of the Nicene Creed 'We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic church,' he proceeded to take us to John ch. 17. Describing the relational unity in the Godhead and the truth that Jesus asked the Father to replicate this unity in the church, he believed that the Holy Spirit was now working to produce true relational unity in the church, what the word catholic implies; so that the world would know that the Father sent Jesus. This relational unity within the church has not been visible for some time here in the UK but as God answers prayers, and especially the prayers of His Son, we should look for the green shoots of relational unity to appear. I guess the Holy Spirit has been working on this prayer of Jesus for 2,000 years, but many of us have been meditating in John 17 for a little while now. What does this mean for Congregational leaders, and individual believers? I don't fully know but I'm encouraged by confirmation. It's always good to get confirmation from leaders to what the Spirit is telling you.
